Nine Internet Solutions AG, the leading provider of managed service solutions and platform management in Switzerland, is launching a new managed Kubernetes product. Nine Kubernetes Engine has been developed by Nine engineers and is hosted in Swiss data centers operated by Nine.
The open source container orchestration software Kubernetes helps organisations manage their complex IT infrastructure. Nine operates and manages the Kubernetes installation for its customers to ensure Kubernetes is running smoothly. Customers will be able to use a set of seamlessly integrated open-source tools which provide functions like monitoring or alerting.
Nine’s new product, Nine Kubernetes Engine (NKE), is designed for organisations that additionally require their platform provider to be subject to Swiss legislation. The managed services have been developed by Nine and are run in Nine operated data centers in Switzerland. The existing Nine managed Google Kubernetes Engine will continue to be part of Nine’s offering.
André Kunz, Head of Technical Solutions at Nine, says: “We are proud to offer our customers a completely Swiss owned and operated managed Kubernetes solution. For the development of Nine Kubernetes Engine, we took the opportunity to re-architect the way the managed services are run. The result is a modular product, for which customers can choose specific services according to their needs. This and the fact that there are no license costs make the pricing of Nine Kubernetes Engine very competitive.”
Nine Kubernetes Engine has already completed an extensive development process including several pilot customers. Swiss Connect Academy AG, a provider of Leadership and Management Courses, is currently in the set-up phase for using Nine Kubernetes Engine. The go-live is planned to take place in the coming months.
Philippe Crevoiserat, Head Operations at Swiss Connect Academy, says: “Some of our customers have very strict security requirements. We are extremely happy that with Nine Kubernetes Engine, we have found a solution that fulfills our expectations. The collaboration with Nine throughout the development of our application has been very constructive and we are looking forward to going live with Nine’s managed Kubernetes solution.”
